With Fijian blood in his veins, Rob Valetini originally hails from Melbourne, attending Melbourne’s Westall Secondary College where he made the Victorian state squad at U16, U18 and U20 levels. The Brumbies were quick to jump on this incredible talent, signing him whilst he was still in school. Following on from his Australian U20s experience, Valetini made the move to Canberra, where he played for the Tuggeranong Vikings. In 2018, he received his Brumbies debut against the Sun Wolves, before having his breakout season the following year, receiving his first call-up to the Wallabies and later earning his debut against Samoa. In 2023, he was named Australia’s Super Rugby Player of the Year and won his first John Eales Medal honour for Wallabies Player of the Year. At the conclusion of the 2024 season, Valetini would become only the third player in history to receive back-to-back John Eales Medal. He is widely hailed as one of the best backrowers on the planet, with an insane workrate level, immense power and relentless ball carrying.
