The Super Rugby season is over for luckless flanker Brad Wilkin after he re-ruptured his ACL.
Wilkin made his Super Rugby debut for the Waratahs last season after two consecutive knee reconstructions and looked to have finally shaken off his bad injury luck.
Wilkin was one of the hottest prospects after his schoolboys and U20s years but knee injuries hindered that progress.
While he couldn't find a place in the Waratahs squad for 2019, Wilkin was picked up by the Rebels along with NSW teammate Hugh Roach and became a regular feature of the match 23.
His run of good fortune ended in Durban, though, after he suffered a knee injury against the Sharks.
Wilkin confirmed that the injury was yet another ACL and he would have to go through surgery
in a social media post, he wrote:
"I will be getting surgery on my knee again, officially ending my 2019 rugby season after reruptuing my ACL against the Sharks in Durban nearly 2 weeks ago.
"Thanks to everyone for their support and for continuing to back me! Although only short lived I loved every minute playing for the @melbournerebels."
The 23-year-old still has a year to run on his Rebels contract but he won't feature for the club again until 2020.
