The Brumbies have recorded a profit for the third consecutive year, announcing their results at their annual general meeting on Thursday.

The ACT franchise reported a $63,334 profit in 2019, up 10 per cent on 2018, after a season in which both their Super Rugby and Super W sides progressed into the playoffs.

Participation figures also recorded a rise this year, with senior participation numbers up by 19.3 per cent and schools Touch 7s participation up by 32 per cent.

Chairman Matt Nobbs was also re-elected to remain at the helm of the board for another two years.

CEO Phil Thomson, who took over the post after the shock resignation of Michael Thomson back in 2018, said there were plenty of positives to come out of the season.

“2019 has been a successful year for the organisation with great results on and off the field,” he said.

“Being able to post a profit for the third year in a row is really pleasing and a testament to the stability and hard work by everyone within the organisation.

“The increase in community participation and growth is again great news with our connection to the region, these people are the backbone of the Brumbies.

“We are also delighted to have Matt Nobbs continue as Chairman and lead the board in 2020.”
