The host cities have even confirmed ahead of the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia, with Sydney announced as host of the Final.
Sydney will host the decider for the second time in history following 2003, when England were victors over the Wallabies in extra-time at Accor Stadium, know previously as Stadium Australia.

“It’s great to see New South Wales come out on top - securing hosting rights to Men’s Rugby World Cup 2027. Staging the finals and having more matches than any other state, demonstrates just how attractive NSW is as a destination for global sporting events," Chris Minns, Premier of New South Wales, said.
“To all those keen rugby fans across the globe - it’s time to lock in your travel plans. Not only will you get to watch some fantastic sport, but you will also get to tour the best state in the world, home to extraordinary national parks and unparalleled Harbour views.”
NSW and Queensland are set to be the big winners, with Newcastle and Townsville also set to host games in the expanded tournament in the pool stages.
World Rugby announced the tournament will kick off in Perth with the Wallabies on October 1, likely held at Optus Stadium.
Perth will also host four additional pool matches and two round-of-16 matches.
Further round-of-16 matches will be held in Melbourne, which will host seven pool matches
Initial reports suggested Victoria would miss out before reported last-minute discussions ensured they would be involved in hosting matches across the tournament.
Adelaide hosted two pool games in 2003 and will host five further pool games in 2025, with Australia recording a World Cup record 142-0 win over Namibia.
The city is also slated to host the AU/NZ invitational game against the British and Irish Lions in July.
“We are delighted to reach another significant milestone on our journey to Men’s Rugby World Cup 2027," World Rugby Chair, Brett Robinson said.
"The selection of these incredible host cities reflects our commitment to bring Rugby World Cup to as many Australians as possible and maximise the tournament’s positive impact and sporting legacy in all host communities. Australia’s iconic cities and rich culture will create an extraordinary atmosphere for fans and players alike, uniting an entire nation for six unforgettable weeks.
"We look forward to working with host cities to make this tournament one for the ages.”
