The Brumbies have confirmed the signing of former Sevens Player of the Year Ben O'Donnell until the end of the 2024 season.

The 27-year-old returns to Australia after a three-year stint in Ireland with Connacht, making his debut with the Sevens program in 2018.

O'Donnell has played at 19 events on the World Series, winning the Shaun McKay Medal in his debut season.

The outside back will be available to play in Saturday's trial against the NSW Waratahs, eager to make his make in Super Rugby.

"I’m excited to be back in Australia and to be joining such a highly respected club like the ACT Brumbies," he said in a statement.

“Playing in Connacht was an unreal experience and I’m grateful for my time there and the mate I made but I’m looking forward to working every day with a world-class coaching staff and the boys here who have created a great culture from everything I have heard.

“Preseasons never get any easier but I'm excited for the hard work and especially looking forward to having a run around with my new teammates on Saturday."

O'Donnell joins a supercharged backline, with fellow Sevens star and reigning Impact Player of the Year Corey Toole set to be a full-time member of the Brumbies' squad.

Brumbies coach Stephen Larkham was equally as pleased to bring back O'Donnell, excited to see his development.

“Ben will be a quality addition to our group," Larkham added.

“Ben was a very accomplished 7s player, and he’s made a good transition to 15s, but we feel he’s got a great chance to develop further in our environment.

“With his pace and feel for the game, Ben’s an option across the backline and we’re excited to see how he goes on Saturday.”
